Rebekka Deubner
saisons thermiques
Since 2021, photographer Rebekka Deubner has been meeting, following, and documenting users of thermal (called « testicular ») contraception. This practice raises questions about intimacy, masculinity, gendered mental burden, and parenthood. Emerging in France in the 1980s, the movement reclaims neglected public health issues at both individual and collective levels. saisons thermiques looks at thermal contraception as an entry point for rethinking our models of relationships and representation. The project unfolds across diverse contexts, encounters, and image typologies — from a performance by artist-choreographer Pau Simon, to the activities of the collective 13ticules at the Planning Familial in Marseille, to the creation of DIY contraceptive tools.
Alternating between scenes of collective life, intimate love, and portraits of men who practice contraception, Deubner’s saisons thermiques reasserts the body as a site of political expression, and of both individual and collective activist action.
Shmorévaz
Shmorévaz is an independent art space located in a former shoe store in Paris. Its program centers on affect, archives, and erotic and political imaginaries, through editorial and artistic projects rooted mainly in feminist, queer, and DIY cultures. Alongside exhibitions, the space also hosts readings and research residencies. In September 2024, Shmorévaz launched its editorial branch, Shmooks (Shmorévaz books). The association also occasionally participates in external events such as Paris Ass Book Fair (2023–24), Salon d’Été (2023), Systema (2024), and Hauser & Wirth invite(s) (2025).
