Ailleurs est imminent
Following the exhibition Lire les lignes du monde in 2023 and …toutes les histoires possibles… in 2024, PhotoSaintGermain partners for the third time with the Centre national des arts plastiques for a collective show at the Galerie du Crous.
The works of Philippe Calia, Victoire Thierrée, Alexandra Dautel, and Elliott Verdier share a common practice: the collection of signs in real or imagined territories, all charged with history.
Each artist explores spaces shaped by cultural, social, or historical divisions, deconstructing the struggles within them. While some of these photographed sites are at the heart of real geopolitical tensions, the works invite reflection on the fictional elements embedded in the narratives we receive, whether historical or artistic. By tracing tangible marks in the landscape, the artists guide viewers through an investigative process that questions the very memory of these places. Their documentary approaches invite us to perceive time as a living, personal material.
Their projects were supported by the CNAP’s programs for documentary photography and artistic projects.
