The group of paintings and photographs functions as a history of my own life and of the people in it. Isolating the images sucks them into a black hole, annihilating and illuminating them simultaneously.
I observe, inhabit, and penetrate various seemingly-unrelated milieus, all of which have elements of spectacle. Prominent members of communities nearly miss being leaders or iconoclasts and become icons in their own right, in my hands. I subject myself to repeated exposure to these individuals and become at once vulnerable to and dismissive of their influence. I establish the goal of infinitely sustaining love and devotion. Ultimately, I love them as humans, and then they die!
They are a culturally diverse group, many of whom I initially met in the city of my origin.
The photographs blur the lines between theatre and real life.
