Galerie La Forest Divonne is delighted to present Elsa & Johanna's photographic series The Timeless Story of Moormerland from October 19 to December 2, 2023 in Paris.
This will be an opportunity for the public to discover this series in the gallery, following the major retrospective devoted to them by the Städtische Galerie in Karlsruhe in 2021 and the success of their solo show at the MEP Studio last year.
Produced in Germany in May 2021, in a context still constrained by the health situation, Elsa & Johanna have conceived the series "The Timeless Story of Moormerland" as a family album, mixing indoor portraits, spontaneous photographs, landscapes and still lifes that give rise to multiple visual narratives. This time, they use silver and natural light, resulting in striking, highly saturated colors. For this new exhibition, the artists will invest the gallery with an immersive installation, immersing the viewer in the world of Moormerland and creating a connivance with the characters photographed.
Elsa & Johanna's third exhibition takes place against a backdrop of exciting news: they were selected to create two artistic posters for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and were also laureates of the Capsule 2023 residency at Champ des impossibles. They were also selected for the Grand Paris Express "Tandem" program to create a permanent work in one of the future metro stations, in collaboration with architect Thomas Richez and under the direction of José-Manuel Gonçalvès.
Galerie La Forest Divonne
Founded in 1988 by Marie-Hélène de La Forest Divonne, Galerie Vieille du Temple became Galerie La Forest Divonne in 2015, when it moved to Rue des Beaux-Arts. It opened a second space, run by her son Jean de Malherbe, in Brussels in 2016. Two generations of gallery owners defend an independent line of international artists, painters, photographers, video artists and sculptors.
