On the occasion of PhotoSaintGermain Festival 2023, Galerie Le Minotaure will present the exhibition of one of the main protagonists of Italian abstract art, Luigi Veronesi (1908-1998), painter, photographer, scenographer and avant-garde film maker; member of the Abstraction Création (1934) then, after the Second World War, of the group of avant-garde photographers La Bussola (1947) and of the Movimiento Arte Concreta (M.A.C) Milanese.
The exhibition will gather the works of the first part of Veronesi's career (1930s and 1940s): abstract photographs, photograms he discovered at the same time as Man Ray, Christian Schad or Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, collages, but also fragments of photographic films painted by the artist as part of his cinematographic experiments.
While showing the variety and originality of the work of the Italian artist in the field of photography and cinema, the show will link the artist to the aesthetics of constructivism and will highlight his affinities with the masters of the Bauhaus.
